Barry M

Review Barry M Textured Effects in Ridley Road and Opi Liquid Sands Got your Number

So I went and bought the Barry M Textured Effects in Ridley Road which is a gorgeous sea foam blue/green, looks like a very candy turquoise colour, this is the only colour I managed to get because as soon as they came out, they flew off the shelves in SuperDrug in Leicester. I will try to get the other colours at Boots in my home town, Sheffield where there is a flagship store in Meadowhall.
Downsides about this nail varnish is it needs 2+ coats to be totally block colour and chips more compared to none textured varnish. I have tried it with and without a topcoat and it NEEDS a topcoat.

On my accent nail, my ring finger (if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it) I burst into song at the most inappropriate of moments, I have OPI Liquid Sands in Got Your Number, its a very glittery blue colour, and really does look and feel like reflective glitter on your nail. Its a lot more dimensional than the Barry M Textured Effects Ridley Road due to the glitter and when turned in the light it shines. This gets me giddy, because if you have read in my Shampoo Review, I may need to go to glitter rehab.
Downside about this nail varnish is it also needs 2+ coats, to block out your nail, now this is particularly troublesome to me because my nail tips are naturally white, it doesn't chip, AT ALL but it takes YEARS to dry, if you paint your nails with this, don't expect to move for the next ten minutes to fully dry.

Shampoo Review Elvive Nutri-Gloss Crystal

I've taken a break from my usual Treseme to try some other brands and I will be comparing them all against Treseme because its my trusted favourite

So I was in Superdrug and thought I'd get some goodies as I was looking for the Barry M Textured nail varnish (in which they only had one colour left, boo) and while I was waiting in the queue this was coyly placed on the queueing line, and due to the fact that I am a bit of a magpie when it comes to anything shiny I had to get it. I always smell shampoos before I buy them, as I'm never aware of how my hair smells when its freshly shampooed (probably because I always use Treseme and I've gotten used to it) but I always notice other peoples freshly washed shampoo smell. So when looking for smells in shampoo I want something strong but not overpowering.

As you can see in the bottle it has sparkles running through the formula which is what grabbed my attention in the first place, and I also thought what a neat idea it would be to have sparkly hair, it brought me back to being 5 and wearing my mums sparkly high heels and thinking I was all grown up when in fact I had a flat chest and tantrums. Either way I wouldn't have probably noticed it if it wasn't in the queueing isle and it didn't have sparkles. (I think I may have to soon go to sparkle rehab because nearly half of my recent purchases have contained reflective sparkly shiny things).

Review L.A Color Electric Charge and H&M Blue Bliss, NOTD

L.A Color Electric Charge
A shocking pink colour, with high shine, lasted extremely well considering I am a keyboard bashing student/blogger. Nails felt nourished and hardened afterwards, this maybe due to the added hardener in the varnish. Adore the colour, would wear it without the accent nail.
H&M Blue Bliss
Slightly disappointed as the formula was gloopy and more of an over coat nail varnish than an actual glitter polish, so therefore I needed Three coats. Might try it over a dark blue colour to see what it does. On the plus side though, it lasted forever and never chipped.

Popular Things I Hate

This is just personal opinion, if you love any of these items don't be offended they just aren't my cup of tea.

Sneaker Style Shoes
Such as vans and converse, I hate them, converse have no support for your ankle so why skaters wear them is BEYOND me, vans, are just glorified pumps with an expensive price tag. I see every boy aged 13-25 wearing them with chinos. Give me a pair of ballerina's and knee high boots any day.

Hidden Heel Trainers
If you wanna wear high heals wear high heels, if you wanna wear trainers wear trainers. DON'T COMBINE THE TWO. "Oh but they are so comfy" are any high heels comfy? No, none, your lying to yourself, they hurt the same after 2 hours, just like regular wedges.

Disco Pants

A total fad, they make any girl that hasn't got a gap at the top of their thighs or 30inch plus hips feel like a whale, therefore I shall never go near them, these and shiny leggings are a NO-GO for me. Leather trousers mind you are a thumbs up.

Beanie Hats
You do not look urban, you look criminal, whatever happened to straw/sun hats? Beanie hats remind me of Dennis the menace and are not the feminine look I try to maintain. They mess up your hair and create static due to trapped heat.

High Streets Going Vintage
Topshop and Missguided are sitting on this trend and have refused to budge ever since vintage got back in fashion. Salt n Pepa style has infiltrated my life, and high street stores such as Topshop are making consumers pay extortionate prices for something that is MADE to look vintage. You can find ACTUAL vintage clothing in lower priced stores, or even join a vintage fair mailing list. Or go to Asos marketplace, or even eBay, you can find quality vintage finds without buying new expensive carbon copy's of the REAL thing.
Vintage style Topshop is tryna push out.

Skater Dresses
I have large hips, I do not want them accentuated by an A-Line dress, for big busted babes that have flat booty syndrome and need a little ruffle in the hip area, it is great. For little tits and Beyonce Behind, I'd rather stick to my body cons with DIY added padding. Thank you but no thanks.

No, Just No, they remind me of Beetlejuice. FYI I don't have cankles, but they don't look nice on anyone bar girls/boys with boney ankles. And If I wanted great chunks of rubber the shape of bricks under my feet, I would chop up a tire and wear them as shoes.

Joey Essex
Let me just highlight the DOUCHERY that this guy comes out with: He wears a jelly watch, on his ankle while wearing a gold rolex on his wrist, someone please tell me the point? His shorts while playing tennis are tighter than his girlfriends, he says "creepy sick" and "reem" and wears turned up acid wash jeans. He trys to run on water. He wears Uggs! He drives a smart car and still can't park! WHO THE HELL IS THIS KID AND WHYYYYYIS HE FAMOUS.
The first time I went in there, I went to the toilet, and spent a considerable time in there. Not a nice experience. Plus its only chicken, you could make it yourself for a fraction of the costs, my hate is mostly down to first time shits though, not the price.

Tops With Derogative Slogans
Everyone has gone extra wild for GEEK and LOSER tops, and I hate them. I am an actual geek, I will watch movies about quantum physics and I know my university's library sections quite well. I like to go to the library with friends and have study sessions, and I wouldn't dream of wearing one of those tops.

Fifty Shades of Grey
I like having sex rather than reading about it, I think the whole relationship between the couple, from what I've heard about the book is rather dangerous, obsessive and sadistic.

getting your way in life

Don't want it, HAVE it.

Visualisation techniques are used by athletes, to help them succeed towards goals, golds and personal bests. If it can help them, what's stopping us?

I read an article in the Elle which was written so persuasively and effective and made me change the way I started to think. It was by Lisa Reich and was an interview with Sonja Moses who works for Nike. The piece did have a sport related theme to it but it reflected how techniques used by athletes can be used by everyday people to manifest what they want in life.
The Key to visualisation is to imagine you already having it. Don't want it, HAVE it.

Bed frame w storage+slatted bedbase, black

Hello lovely readers, I was looking on twitter the other day and noticed a few of my lovely followers are going GA-GA over Cath Kidson inspired bedding. I used to adore the simple and minimalist décor style and now I'm leaning towards the flowery and even quite cottagey looking textiles.
I still love minimalism, but that doesn't mean I can't have something pretty and also minimalist.
My bed is like the one shown in the picture above, mine's a more orangey wood oak colour and its revival Gothic nineteenth century, I won it on an auctioneer site, and because I'm currently in student halls some 60 miles away from home I've not had a chance to look at it properly.
Along with my bed, I won two wardrobes, one lady wardrobe which is wide and not as tall, to put all my "fine dresses and petticoats" in and another the slimmer taller master wardrobe for his "long Johns and dinner suits".It also came with a 3 drawer'd desk, I won all this for £520 which was an absolute bargain, and will no doubt last me for the rest of my life.
When I go home for Easter vacation (25th March- 12th April) I will be taking apart my old furniture and probably selling it on this blog, or on gumtree, I will feel sad to see my old furniture go because it was my first ever own bought furniture and has seen me through godless amounts of clothes for over three years.

Review L.A Colors, Color Craze in Tahiti Sunrise

I absolutely Love Love Love this colour, it's the most tartiest cherry red ever, and I think it's gorgeous.
I'm not into the "tart"/ "cat slater" look but this nail varnish reminds me of Glacia cherries you get on top of a bake well tart.
It shows my nail through but I only used one coat, a very thick coat mind you but one coat all the same.
I think with two coats it would definitely be solid in colour.
I has chipped on one hand but not the other and I have been in and out of the shower and washed my hands multiple times.
I'm so happy that this was only 99pence! I feel like I've won the bargain nail varnish lottery in a less silly faced cheesy way.

Review of Mega Watt: L.A Colors, Color Craze

What it looks like indoors
I bought this nail varnish thinking that it would be a taupe colour or beige and it is but it has huge amounts of pink shimmer running through it.
I needed THREE coats of this to really make it stand out and honestly I was disappointed with it at first glance.
I have natural white tips so, when I do wear nail varnish I want it to cover up my natural, french look and give me a solid colour, this however didn't do that.
After three coats you can still see hints of my natural white tips underneath and this annoyed me.

Liebster Award Nominations

A liebster award is an award for anyone under 200 followers, its kinda like chain mail, once someone has nominated you they have to nominate 5, and give different questions to the mix.
I'm so excited that someone has actually nominated me because it feels like your stuff is actually getting out there.
I got nominated by the gorgeous Julie from @flabbyface and these were the questions she has assigned me:

1. If you could change one thing you've done in your life, what would it be?
I would have to say I wish I would have realised I wanted to become a journalist earlier on and gone to university earlier, I'm in my first year and 21 so I live with girls who are three years younger and you can tell you the difference.

River Island Lust List: SS13

So I was tinkering around twitter the other day and had a nosey on a couple of blogs and looked at leanne woodfull page and then her website and eyed her river island spring post which made me all giddy inside.
I then had a zoom over to river island and looked at their "whats new" section and picked out some of my favourites.
Here's what I loved the most:
